Daily Polar Temperatures:

The left image is day time temperatures (~2 pm) and the right image is night time temperatures (~2 am).

Mars is in late northern summer. The northern cap edge has completely receeded to its minimum extent and will be starting to grow over the next month. The cap edge is currently about 80°N latitude. The permanent water-ice cap has already cooled to near dry ice temperatures. In a few months, the seasonal cap of dry ice will start to expand, ultimately covering the entire nothern hemisphere down to about 50°N latitude.

The North Pole as Seen by MOC
The north pole as seen by MOC. This image is part of a mosiac made from several MOC images. One can see some residual mosaicing effects near the center of the pole. These are visible as the sharp line of a slightly different hue. How big is the north pole compared to the south pole?
