Mars is in late northern summer. The northern cap edge has completely receeded to its minimum extent and will be starting to grow over the next month. The cap edge is currently about 80°N latitude. The permanent water-ice cap has already cooled to near dry ice temperatures. In a few months, the seasonal cap of dry ice will start to expand, ultimately covering the entire nothern hemisphere down to about 50°N latitude.
